Engage Events at the Bush Center with Highland Capital Management

In 2018, Highland Capital Management is sponsoring Engage events through an endowment gift. The Engage events bring in authors, thought leaders, and newsmakers for lectures and discussions at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. Since 2012, Highland has made contributions totaling more than $5 million to the Bush Center which opened in 2013. They are sponsoring the Portraits of Courage exhibit at the Bush Center museum as well as other special exhibits. The first sponsored Engage event of this series took place on February 5, 2018. It was a two part program with the first part covering Constitutional Conversations and the second part covering today’s media. The son of the late United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia began the evening’s events. Christopher Scalia authored a book which published in October 2017. The second portion of the event discussed today’s media landscape. A panel of experts discussed what James Madison, author of the First Amendment, might think about current events. The panel consisted of Jeffrey Rosen, Amy Mitchell, and Mike Wilson. Jeffrey Rosen is the CEO and president of the National Constitution Center as well as an expert on James Madison. Amy Mitchell is a preeminent media and social media researcher who co-authors the Pew Research Center’s annual “State of the News Media” report. Mike Wilson is an editor for Dallas Morning News.

Later in 2018, as part of the Engage series The Highland Capital Lecture will take place at the Bush Center. During this event, the co-founder and president of Highland Capital Management, Jim Dondero, will be joining Hersh’s Executive Advisory Council. This event is meant to further the commitment of Highland Capital Management to the Bush Center.
